Overall discussion and reworking of language for new signs: 2 signs, one for MA laws, one for Norwich Pond suggestions.
PN: MA environmental police willing to come to our meeting.
BG: town approved $2,500 for signs & buoys.
FA: how do we get the signs made? Discussion: attempt to get MA laws sign free from EP.
PN: The EP’s won’t allow the buoys.
BG: Three different EP’s have given me a different answer about the buoys: they are safety markers, like at the Oxbow. Is it illegal, or isn’t it illegal? ‘Non-lateral markers’. BG calling Pajak for an answer. Buoys are a great tool for safety.
Group discussion about buoys: They are to designate 150’ from shore. There will be 6-8 of them. Concerns of buoys being taken or damaged.
FA: let’s put up the signs and buoys and let them (EP) take them down if they want. At least we can say that we (town of Huntington) tried to make the lake safer.
AL: brings up Riparian rights. 99% of lake is privately owned. Owners should know their rights.
RL: Getting quote on the signs.
Next meeting: July 11, 2013, 6pm
